Raeko's hair was blown back across his face as the massive Hollow infront of him let out an ear-splitting roar of nothing but pure unadulturated rage. The creature stood atleast twenty feel tall, possessing a humanoid form with a long, wicked looking tail and razor sharp claws that were each as long as his legs. Raeko's face was blank as he stared at the creature, but his eyes were narrowed in a look of determination. The creature took another step forward, roaring in anger once again as its malicious eyes glared at the spirit of the young girl hiding behind Raeko's right leg, gripping the fabric of his Soul Reaper outfit with white-knuckled determination. "Stay back little one.... I will handle this..." He said with a calm tone as he reached backwards to gently move the spirit of the young girl out of the way.
The Hollow let out another roar and began to charge at full force, the ground thundering with each step of its massive feet. Raeko's left hand went calmly to the hilt of his zanpakuto. "Raikou!" He yelled simply as he withdrew the zanpakuto, and as he pulled the blade from its sheathe it immediately shifted into its shikai form. The blade became curved slightly, the guard fanning outwards in several areas, with a smaller blade following the curvature of the main one. The zanpakuto itself seemed to crackle and snap with energy as small waves of blue electricity seemed to trail up and down it's length. Raeko suddenly leaped upwards into the air as the Hollow sent its tail flying forwards to try and knock him to the side.
In the blink of an eye Raeko sliced through the tip of the Hollow's tail, sending it screaming in pain as he began to run up the remainder of its tail, his zanpakuto held to his right side as he ran up the back of the creature at a rapid pace. To anyone who may have been watching he was nothing more than a moving blur. As he ran up the Hollow's spine, he began slashing his blade left and right, leaving deep cuts into the Hollow's back as it began flailing in every direction, trying to fling Raeko off of its back. With a few more steps he'd reached the Hollow's shoulder blades and from that point he leaped upwards into the air, flying high over the Hollow. He gripped his zanpakuto in both hands tightly and as he descended he brought the blade straight downwards.
He landed on one knee, his head held low as the Hollow dissipated infront of him, a final bellow of defeat following its exit. He slowly rose to his feet, looking towards the spirit of the young girl. "It's okay... it won't be able to hurt you any longer..." He said, a warm smile coming across his handsome features as he walked closer towards her. He then reversed his grip on his zanpakuto and touched the bottom of the hilt to the young girl's forehead. "Go... and be at peace..." He said softly as the girl's spirit was then taken to the Soul Society. He remained stationary for a few moments, looking to the area that the girl's spirit had just occupied. It had been the fifth Hollow that night that he'd been forced to take out, Karakura Town was definately a bee-hive of spiritual activity.

Another Hollow at night, and Tokei had school in the morning, not that it mattered, he was always late, but recently since his spiritual powers began to surface, he had found that it was harder and harder to get to sleep. Sliding his door open, he went out onto his balcony, to see another Soul Reaper. Lately a lot of them had been showing up. He slipped on his sunglasses, he couldn't see spirits without them yet.
"Excuse me? You're a Soul Reaper right?" He asked, looking down at the man, and watching a butterfly of unusual color fly into the night. Staring at the man, he wore different garb then the other Reapers he's seen. "You're not a normal Soul Reaper are you? You're dressed differently." Tokei went inside, putting his normal clothes on, and sneaked out the front door, to meet the Soul Reaper face-to-face.

Excuse me? You're a Soul Reaper, right?"
Raeko shifted his eyes in the direction of the balcony above and behind him, looking over his left shoulder at the person standing there, questioning him. He was nothing more than a kid really, Raeko could feel a small amount of spiritual pressure coming from the boy, but he didn't seem to be any kind of a threat to him. Raeko had learned all about the fact that there seemed to be many humans in Karakura Town with the ability to see spiritual beings and even a few that had spiritual abilities of their own. It just seemed odd to him that so many humans were being born lately with spiritual abilties, it had never happened this often as far as Raeko knew.
He listened to the boy's question, a smirk crossing over his face for a few moments. How would he answer that question....? He had been a Soul Reaper for over a century.... left the Seiretei for decades afterwards, and had only recently joined up with the Soul Society again, becoming Captain of the 5th Divison. "I'm a Captain..." He said, imagining that might be enough description for the boy, but if he knew anything about Soul Reapers, he knew that wouldn't suffice. "I've always dressed differently than the others..." He said simply, even though the truth was ever since he'd achieved Bankai, his clothing had never dissappeared, leaving him with the attire that he currently wore now.
The black Soul Reaper robe was more form-fitting than others, with the sleeves cut off and a sleeveless white hooded shirt underneath it, the hood laid across his back. His thick black hair hung around his face in messy dissaray. "Captain Ichinose..." He said with a slight bow of his head, though the word 'Captain' sounded odd when placed together with his name. It would definately take some time to get used to it, "Who are you...?" He asked simply, though his mind was elsewhere. He could sense the Spiritual Pressure of someone or something else that was getting very close, though he couldn't quite put his finger on who it may be.... a few more moments and he would have it figured out.

"The signal is gone..." A really disappointed Hotaru said while looking at her soul phone. There was an interesting strong signal coming from a hollow not too long ago, and Hotaru had thought it would be a good challenge, but someone had already beaten the hollow. "Well, there’s still someone there, I should drop by to say hello; it had been a long time since I’ve got the chance to relax for a while and talk to another shinigami” Hotaru thought as she jumped from one ceiling to other.
Soon Hotaru was pretty close from the origin of the spiritual pressure she had been following; it was stronger than hers, no doubt about it, so she peered down from the edge of the building while she tried to hide her own spiritual pressure the more she could; she wasn’t sure if that shinigami was that friendly.
What she saw surprised her so badly she felt on her back.
“A human?! Just a kid?!” was all that Hotaru had in her mind right now as the only thing she saw at first was Tokei. “How can a simple human had such an impressive spiritual pressure? No wait …how can a human have a spiritual pressure stronger than mine?!” She almost shouted, but managed to keep her in her thoughts. She peered down the building again, making sure her eyes weren’t lying to her. Then she noticed Raeko and sighed; after all she wasn´t that crazy. Hotaru kept hidden in the building just looking at them, wondering why they were together…well, they seemed to be talking….
“I’m captain Ichinose”
Hotaru heard those words from the conversation and fell to her back again. “What the hell is a captain doing here?!” She shouted only for herself.

Whirling around, from the sudden shout, he looked about to find the origin of the sound. "Who said that?!" He asked, quietly, not trying to wake anyone up. Tokei was positive that the sound came from his house, but that'd be ridiculous. As far as he knew of, Spirits couldn't walk through walls. Could they, the young man didn't know, he was far too new to this new aspect of his world.
Turning back to the Shinigami "My name is Tokei... Tokei Tatsujin. A pleasure to meet you, Captain Ichinose." Tokei said, "You woke me up, with the battle, I didn't know there were captains, I thought you were all normal Soul Reapers, all on the same level.." The young man, yawned, and covered his face. "Sorry, this is usually the time I'm asleep. I guess I should stop... and go back to bed." He finished.
At the same instant he said stop, his watch began to act weird, and it's glass cover shattered. The gears began to grind loudly as it began to shudder to a complete stop. Tokei stared at it, with a surprised look, for it had never acted like that, it always froze instead.
"Thats... new." He muttered.

He listened to Tokei's comment with a half-smile on his lips. It was kind of amusing to hear Soul Reapers in general being described in such a simple manner, but then again he'd grown up learning everything about being a Soul Reaper, and then living the lifestyle for several centuries, this kid was just now finding out that there was other things happening in the world beyond what he could see with his own eyes normally. "There are the normal ones that you generally see here in the World of the Living.... and then there are the Lieutenants, and then the Captains. Normally a Captain wouldn't be here unless it was something serious... but I prefer this world over the Soul Society..." He said simply, wondering why he was being so forthcoming with the information, but brushing it off to the fact that the boy seemed absolutely harmless.
Before the girl let out the shout to herself, Raeko immediately was able to pinpoint her Spiritual Pressure and figure out where she was and at what level of a threat she might be, and then finding her to be a Soul Reaper as well, pushed thoughts of caution from his mind. "You can come down now...there's no need to hide..." He said simply towards the roof over Tokei's head, his voice calm and warm. He was trying to keep from being intimidating and scaring her, he knew the feeling younger Soul Reapers had when being spoken to by a Captain, it was frightening to say the least. He didn't know this girl by her Spiritual Pressure, but then again he hadn't been to the Seiretei in decades before he'd recently been named Captain of Squad 5.
His eyes looked towards Tokei's watch as it made a series of high-pitched noises before seemingly breaking down completely. He opened his mouth to begin to say something, before a sudden spike of Spirit Pressure could be felt coming from behind them but moving their way at a rapid pace. A serious expression took a firm hold of his features as he looked from Tokei, the rooftop where the girl would probably appear from soon, "Something is coming...." He said simply, turning his head to cast a look over his shoulder, waiting to see what might appear from the darkness. He recognized it as the same Spiritual Pressure he'd felt earlier, though he still couldn't pinpoint as to whether or not it was friendly or malicious.... only time would tell.

Hotaru covered her mouth with her hand as she realized she had shouted way too loud, she got on her feet, trying to get back her composure; she really needed to stop thinking outloud, now both the human and the captain had noticed her; well…it wasn’t as if she could have remained hidden that long if there was actually a captain there. “I wasn’t hiding from you…ok I was, but I did have my reasons…whatever… seems like there isn’t any other option but to go down” Hotaru thought and sighed, at least this captain didn’t sounded that bossy as the others.
She stood over the edge of the building, looking down at the men who were below her, also she took the chance to inspect the height of the building; it was a simple jump to get down. Suddenly she leaped down swiftly, her braids swirled before her as she fell.
“Now that I think about it…who’s this captain? Never seen him before…” She thought while her body was suspended in mid-air.
Within less than 3 seconds her feet were touching the ground. She had landed with a complete grace and now she stood firmly before Tokei and Raeko, trying not to show any doubt into herself “For the thirteenth squad, I am the four seat, Tsuzuki Hotaru; a pleasure to meet you sir” She introduced herself formally, with a clear voice while bowing respectfully to Raeko. In a normal situation she would have said her name plainly, without so many honorifics; less polite and more casual. But since there was a highest rank shinigami before her she had to follow the protocol. “It’s so uncomfortable to do this…” Hotaru thought.
She looked up, and noticed how serious the captain was; more serious than captain usually were. She looked around but didn’t find something strange; nothing was out of place except the unusual fact that a human seemed aware of their presence. Then she faintly sensed something, another spiritual pressure. She followed the captain’s gaze… nothing was there, but she locked her gaze to that place and unconsciously got her right hand to the handle of her zanpakuto.

Tokei looked at the Soul Reaper that descended from his home, and looked back at the Captain, "What do you mean something is coming? Another one of those Hollow creatures?" The young man said, obviously worried, not only for his well being, but for the spirit-beings and these soul reapers. "Hey, not that this is a good time to ask, but each time i say stop, any watch or clock near me breaks, is that something bad?" He asked, as his watch started to grind it's internal gears, as it came back to life. Something it hasn't done before. "What the hell?"
In the distance, a roar could be heard, unmistakeably Hollow, it echoed, as car alarms were set off. Tokei jumped a foot, in surprise of the sound. His sunglasses fell off, and cracked when they hit the ground. He looked around, and for once, without his sunglasses he could see the spirits.

A small smile crossed over his face as she introduced herself, though his attention was kept riveted by the approaching Spiritual Pressure. Thirteenth Squad.... Raeko knew Captain Ukitake fairly well, the man had always been very friendly to Raeko and they had spoken more than a few times about Raeko's philosophy concerning the Seiretei and how it went about handling its business. Ukitake shared some of the same feelings that Raeko did, bringing them together in a kind of friendship, though shortly afterward was when Raeko had decided to leave the Seiretei and he hadn't had an opportunity to speak with Captain Ukitake since then.
"Raeko Ichinose, Captain of the 5th Division..." He said in a friendly tone, but kept his eyes trained on the landscape behind him, his form still in the same prone position with his eyes looking over his shoulder as he had been before. Every muscle in his athletic form was tense, his body feeling as if a coiled spring, ready to explode into motion at a moment's notice. "By the way.... you don't have to be so formal with me.... I don't believe in protocol as much as the other Captains do..." He said, with as much of a comforting tone as he could muster at the moment.
At that moment an enormous Hollow reached it's massive claw over the edge of the rooftop they were currently standing on, lifting the gigantic head over the lip of the roof to peer at the three individuals with a greedy type of insatiable hunger. Thick, ragged white hair hung across its demonic features, partially covering the hideous mask hanging across its face. This Hollow was nearly three times the size of the one he'd killed only a few moments before. The Spiritual Pressure seemed to radiate off of the creature, and though it was definately impressive, he felt confident that it was nowhere near his own power.
"The two of you should stay back..." He said calmly, reaching for his zanpakuto once more. He imagined the boy probably wouldn't be of much use in the battle, he didn't seem to posess enough Spiritual Pressure, the girl however did seem like she would be useful in a battle, but then he would also feel responsible for watching after her even if she was more than capable of defending herself. "Raikou..." He said as he withdrew the zanpakuto, already appearing in its shikai form, blue electricity sparking and crackling up and down its length. He doubted he would have to use his Bankai, the creature didn't seem that powerful, but then again one should never underestimate their enemy.

“I do not think I should be less formal to you sir” Hotaru said calmly; this captain was far way more friendly than other captains at sereitei, she didn’t feel that intimidated compared to others; but still she couldn’t help but to keep with the protocol, she was so used to follow it, no matter how many times her captain, captain Ukitake, had asked and allowed her to speak without the formalism rules, Hotaru found it hard to leave them away.
She stood in her place, waiting for any sign of the origin of the new spiritual pressure as the hair at the back of her neck began to bristle, getting ready for when it appeared; she could feel it clearly now, it was approaching and it didn’t felt to be friendly.
She listened quietly to Tokei as he spoke; she was surprised that he actually knew so much, that he knew what a hollow was. It seemed that here in Karakura many humans were indeed really aware of the spiritual beings around them, and this guy was a clear example of it “And he had got already a point, it’s a hollow” She thought .However she didn’t get enough time to keep into her thoughts, the roar of the hollow pierced through her. She turned quickly to her side as she heard something cracked, unsheathing her zanpakuto in a single fluid move and taking an offensive position; only to find a pair of broken glasses and an extremely surprised Tokei. “I must look so paranoiac…” She thought while clenching her teeth.
As the hollow appeared over them, her eyes widened “It’s huge” She said lowly as she inspected the spiritual being; the other hollows she had seen since she arrived to human world were nothing compared to the size and spiritual pressure of this one “And it so disgusting” She added into her mind while she walked to stay next to Tokei.
Through she had heard Captain Ichinose recommend them to stay back, she couldn’t just stay there and watch; at least she had to be ready if she was needed. “Soar in the last night, Hyouga Tsubasa” Hotaru whispered. Right after she finished the releasing command her zanpakuto´s blade divided into five parts, all the divided blades meeting at the end of the zanpakuto and their tips turned arrow-like; finally a dream catcher appeared at the base of the handle, adorned with one white feather and another red one. Hotaru held her zanpakuto high in the air with a single hand, as if she was about to threw it away.
Then she just waited, looking warily at the hollow that was now drooling all over them. It crouched slightly and sent a loud growl; it seemed to be eager to strike.

As the Hollow appeared, Tokei felt an overwhelming power, forcing him to the ground. Power radiated from both of the Soul Reapers and the Hollow, he could barely breath, and he was frozen.
As the Hollow growled, there was movement behind it, three smaller Hollows, drooling, and skittering. Their presence was masked by their 'leader', and with that, they had the opportunity of surprise. The force weighing on Tokei was staggering, as he tried to speak, he found that he was basically frozen.
The amount of spirits attached to their personal belongings had probably attracted the Hollows, and with the spiritual pressure of these Shinigami, the meal these demonic creatures thought was here must have been mouth-watering... Another roar could be heard from behind the group as another group of small Hollows approached, eager for the meal they believed they would get.
"Raeko... More Hollows..." He gasped, barely able to speak, his voice more like a whisper. He struggled to move, but was frozen in fear... but unknown to him, his left hand began to glow, as his watch began to start grinding it's gears again.

Raeko noticed the movement of the three smaller Hollows a half-second before Tokei mentioned it to him. His eyes narrowed a bit more, his mind racing with possible options of how the scenario could be played out. One massive Hollow by itself was a large amount of trouble, but combined with another three smaller ones would make it even worse, he couldn't afford to hold back his power, if he did it could mean disaster for the other two that were now involved. "Try and handle the other three.... or atleast distract them while I take out the big one..." He said softly to Tsuzuki, his eyes staying in place, riveted on the large Hollow that was approaching them rapidly. "Bankai...." He whispered, his Spiritual Pressure suddenly skyrocketing.
His zanpakuto began to glow a bright blue color, sparkling and crackling with a sapphire electricity running up and down its length. Suddenly the blade rose into the air directly infront of him, suspended before his eyes, and then it split directly down the middle, shortening its length until it was a set of twin daggers floating in the air, made up of pure energy. The air around Raeko's form began to snap with the same electricity as his weapon, pure blue electricity seeming to shoot out of his eyes in all directions. He reached forward and took a blade into each of his hands, holding them at his sides, every muscle in his athletic form tensing as he prepared to unleash his energy. "Denkou Baruto!" He yelled, a large bolt of pure energy suddenly shooting straight outwards from his twin blades and rocketing towards the gargantuan Hollow.
Suddenly he shot forward, his body nothing more than a moving blur as he ran with the same speed as his bolt, moving in tandem with it as the two of them raced towards the approaching Hollow. As the bolt of energy impacted with the Hollow's stomach, directly under the empty hole of its chest, Raeko leaped upwards into the air, his knees drawn up and both blades held out to each side of his ascending form. With a lightning quick slash, a blue aftertrail being left in the air from his movements, the Hollow's left arm was suddenly sent flying into the air, disconnected from its body, another lightning quick slash followed and the other massive arm was sent spiraling through the air.
The creature began to stumble back from the force of the lightning bolt and Raeko wasted no time, sprinting forwards from the moment his feet touched the ground and leaping onto the Hollow's stomach as it fell backwards. With narrowed eyes he began to race up the Hollow's stomach, leaping over the void in its chest, and suddenly he leaped forwards into the air, spinning his body in a tight and blazing fast mid-air rotation with his blades held out on each side of his body. His form looked to be nothing more than a miniature tornado of blue electricity as the blades sliced through the neck of the Hollow, sending its mammoth head a few feet off of its body before it dissappeared completely.
Raeko's feet touched the ground inaudibly, the blue energy still sparking all around his form, he looked over his shoulder to see how Hotaru was progressing with her own set of Hollows. He imagined he might have to jump in and help her but he wanted to see how she fared in a fight. One Hollow was enough for a Soul Reaper, two was a challenge, three was something only the elite of shinigami could handle at one time.

Hotaru looked up to the recently appeared hollows “Great, more hollows…like if it wasn´t enough with the big one” She thought while she frowned. She gave a quick glance to her side to look at Tokei; definitively he wasn´t the luckiest guy in the world, now he was caught into this fight between hollows and shinigamis, and probably he didn’t even have the change to defend himself.
"Try and handle the other three.... or at least distract them while I take out the big one..."
Hotaru nodded at the commandment “I’ll surely get ride of them” She said into her mind; but as the says goes: Easier said than done. Maybe the two hollows weren’t that much of a problem; the really problem was the third one. Probably only a way to get the three of them, she really hoped this would work…
A stunning force was felt as the captain released his bankai. It was pretty obvious why he had earned his rank. Suddenly Raeko was gone like a blur and with a lighting bolt. The three hollows leaped for Raeko; willing to protect their master and had an appealing meal. At that very moment she shunpoed to the roof of the building as fast as she could, so she would be face to face to the hollows; with her zanpakuto still held high. “Hey! Your business is here!” She shout at them in mid-air and swung her zanpakuto forward, and as she made so the five blades of her zanpakuto separated and extended to reach the hollows.
One blade pierced through the chest of one of them; sending it some meters away before it was crashed into the floor; attaching the hollow to the ground. A layer of thick ice begun to grow quickly around the impact zone; covering the whole chest and half or its arms. The rest of the blades lunged for the other hollows; two of one and the remaining two for the other; and obligated them to step back.
Hotaru touched the ground and took a firm position; it was hard to move while she concentrated on moving every single blade. Her arm and wrist kept moving and twisting as her blades contorted, lengthened and shortened to keep the hollows some distance away from her, herding them to gain some time and taking any chance to make a cut in them. Soon all the blades were striking at the two hollows; as the first one had finished it’s propose: to built an ice prison around the other hollow and keep it away for a while, so Hotaru could have her complete attention into the other ones. She stood struggling with them for some time. It was taking her more time than usual, lately she have had little rest and as a consequence her attacks weren’t as precise as they normally were.
Finally Hotaru saw one chance to get the job done. One of the hollows gave a false step. It was now or never. She lifted three of the blades and slashed at the hollow. They cut swiftly through it, dividing it into three parts before it vanished slowly. With one hollow gone and the other trapped, the third one was easy; the entire zanpakuto attacked it and in a blink of an eye the hollow was vanishing as well.
Hotaru retracted her zanpakuto to its usual length and turned her head to the remaining hollow; who growled furiously as it clawed its ice prison, or what it was left of it… Before the hollow was free, she lifted one more time her zanpakuto and struck at it; making several deep cuts until the hollow was gone.
After it dessepeared Hotaru´s zanpakuto glowed as it returned its sealed form, she turned to take a look around while panting lightly. She really hoped there weren´t any more hollows around.

Unfortunately there were.
Three hollows were approaching Tokei, from behind where he and the Shinigami had stood. As he was finally able to move, with the defeated Hollow's spiritual pressure disappearing, he was able to talk normally. Able to also function normally, or for him, abnormally.
"My watch always died with that word. Now it started again... Time? Ichigo said that every spiritual aware human had abilities..." He was muttering to himself, as a Hollow lunged at him.
"Here goes nothing. Tokisutoppu!" He shouted, as the Hollow reached him. With a flash of purple light, the Hollow in his face froze in mid-air, as a staff appeared in Tokei's hand, "...Help..." He said, his voice shaky, as he stared at the monster, afraid to blink. The creature was so close, that the drool from the creature's mouth almost landed on the kid's face.
Tokei's watch blazed with a purple light, as the hands of his watch had a new property. A fourth hand which consisted of the purple energy was frozen, just as the Hollow was.
But that only was handling one of the three Hollows, both of the remaining creatures decided to rush at the female Shinigami.

Raeko's eyes widened slightly as he saw another three Hollows appearing behind Tokei. What the hell was going on...? Four Hollows was a rare occassion to see at once, but now there had been seven altogehter? He thought to himself, watching as Tokei seemed to freeze the first one in place, mere inches from his stunned form. He also noticed the other two lunging towards Hotaru, and Raeko knew that after dispatching the other three Hollows like she had, that she had to be extremely fatigued and they would indeed catch her off guard. He turned his form towards them, bringing the dual blades of glowing energy infront of his face. "Strike like lightning from the heavens Raikou..." He spoke softly and then lowered the blades.
With a sound like a gunshot, Raeko suddenly burst forward, moving far quicker than he had before, to the point that he wasn't even sure if the two others would be able to follow his movements, Hotaru might, but Tokei would see nothing but a blur as Raeko sped towards Hotaru's prone form, time seeming to move in slow motion around him as he leaped upwards into the air, flying over her body and landing a few feet infront of her, meeting the two approaching Hollows who suddenly stopped dead in their tracks, surprised by the sudden appearance of the Shinigami Captain. With a few seconds though their surprise faded and they let out monstrous roars, only a few inches from Raeko's face. A smirk crossed Raeko's lips as he remained stationary for a few moments.
The first Hollow twitched as it prepared to take a step forward, instantly Raeko launched into motion, spinning into the midst of the two Hollows, his blades of pure energy spinning around his form, enveloping him in blue aftertrails that seemed to completely encircle his body as he moved in between and around the two Hollows, moving so fast that they were defenseless to do anything but stand there as his blades sliced into various parts of their bodies, barely giving their minds time to register the pain before another slice was made. He then leaped upwards into the air, away from the two Hollows as they suddenly dissappeared and he whipped both of the glowing blades forward, shooting them spinning through the air in opposite directions, rotating end over end.
The two blades came together infront of Tokei, slicing through the Hollow that was frozen before him. They continued their momentum and flew back towards Raeko's awaiting hands, moments before the Hollow dissappeared as well, joining its brethren. "....that should be all of them..." Raeko said softly, the energy draining away from his body and eyes, and eventually his dual daggers melted into the single katana that was his zanpakuto in its normal form. He couldn't feel even the slightest trace of anymore Hollows around them, atleast for the moment. He felt a slight wave of fatigue hit him, but he pushed it aside, he'd been through alot worse, a few Hollows wasn't going to tire him out.
