Ichigo Kurosaki took a seat on a bench in Karakura town's park. It was always peaceful here, and usually quite empty... well, besides when hollows attacked for the earlier half of that statement. People usually didn't come out here and he hadn't made any plans as however unlikely a hollow attack seemed, he had to stay ready. So, instead of sitting inside all day, he'd walked to the park. Maybe he'd meet a spirit that wasn't trying to kill him, or even less likely then that already remote chance, someone he knew would show up.
It was late morning, the sun wasn't out on the late summer day completely yet, but it was still possible, however, to feel the heat. Ichigo Had chosen a pain of black jeans and a purple T-shirt with one of his favorite band's logos plastered along the chest and right shoulder. His hair did it's usual natural spike, and as usual, his trademark scowl was plastered over his face, masking anything he was thinking or feeling, which was pretty much pure boredom at the current moment.
With a yawn, he stretched his arms far over his head, hearing some birds chirp and take off from a tree behind him which was providing him with a semi-adequate shade, and protecting him from the majority of the sun's heat and light. With an inward shrug, he thought to himself about how damn bored he was, and thought about actually making plans. When hollows had attacked, they'd been stronger, but attack numbers had started to thin... Maybe Aizen was up to something... Who knew? He just hoped that someone would show up or something would happen to break this damn horrible boredom.

It had only been a few week since she had returned to Karakura town, and she already felt the quickening changes in the surgence of hollows thinning. "They were right...", she only muttered words under her breathe as she gently waltz down the streets of the town, heading... nowhere?... Well she was just plainly lost in thought, she captured the few times she overheard the captains talk about Aizen's whereabouts, his coming threats... the coming battle. She had known by Urahara that the Hougyoku would need around a year. But at the pace of things, the constant Captain Meetings back in soul society and the fact that hollows were beginning to retreat the most spiritually empowered piece of land, well you didn't need a genius to put them together. Although only one person came to mind when it came to Karakura's own survival, Ichigo. That guy definitely was something to talk about nowadays.
"Wait a second where ... ", she was focused soo much on her own thoughts that she didn't realize she was heading straight to Karakura's central park. Wondering where Ichigo could be it wasn't long before she spotted the purtruding orange flames out of the slender kid's head which was his most obvious trademark. She wore a fiery brown strip top with a light blue sweater over it, dark khaki colored skirt down to her knees and matching knee high boots to match. A small beanie covering her head finished her rather casual look on a nice summer day. She noticed he was rather chill, strange considering how stressed and obscurely cold he tended to be in public, she strolled toward him, not letting herself be known as she walked right behind him. "ICHIGO!... So here's where you've been, you left without saying a word, both Yuzu and Karin were asking for you... you jerk!" when was Rukia ever nice to Ichigo?!, in the real world, in soul society, near death or just plainly hanging out it just never seemed like Rukia would ever give him a break. It was an obvious love and hate relationship, whether either would admit to it was another story. She held her own hands behind her back as she hovered right over Ichigo's head which seemed dazed up to the trees, perfect way to catch him off guard. She would have thought of something more surprising but she indeed was looking for him after Yuzu's worried face made her take on the mission personally for her sake.
"Don't worry Yuzu, I'm sure he didn't go far. I'll find him before the day's done. I promise", she recalled the words she told the young Kurosaki before leaving his home earlier, before she was sidetracked with other worries. "

As usual, it was impossible for Ichigo to find peace for even a moment from the raven-haired shinigami that had invaded and taken up residence in his closet over the first half of the summer, then moved back in simply a few weeks ago. Indeed, it seemed at times they'd kill for each other but would spend the rest of the time bickering and arguing, generally attempting to do nothing more then get on the other's nerves. Ichigo secretly found it entertaining, though no one else would ever truly know that and he'd most likely take that secret to his grave.
Startled and honestly not expecting Rukia to sneak up on him in such a manner despite these facts, however, Ichigo raised his head from it's lolled position when Rukia screamed into his face. Comically, his head 'bonked' hers on the way up, and he spent a minute rubbing the red spot before returning his brown gaze back at the much shorter girl, "What the hell, Rukia!?" he asked, with a deep grimace, almost looking like he was about to start growling at her. He continued after the spots in his vision caused by the slight impact faded, "Who are ya callin a jerk, ya jerk?", He asked then sighed, "What, did I forget to say I was leaving? I thought they were going out to do something with dad today..." He continued. With a sigh, he turned back and looked to his forward, away from where Rukia was standing with a slight hmph. He was still slightly annoyed, both by what she had done to get his attention, and how he hadn't noticed 'till she was there. Maybe it was time for some more training.

Startled by Ichigo's unexpected reaction the collision between the two definitely caught her off guard, which she had replied with a slight grunt as she covered her nose hoping she wasn't bleeding. Rubbing rapidly at the peak location of pain she snared at Ichigo after she finished her comment with a muffled sound. "Geezzzz!... you can't mean to tell me that you didn't expect me coming. I wasn't even hiding my spiritual pressure you idiot."As the pain started to subside she made several facial movements around her nose, by moving her mouth up and down, making sure it was fine. It wasn't like she was dying but having a broken nose because of Ichigo's unreceptive reaction was just unfair.
She heard him return her comments with the usual argumentative tone, as though he were always right. "hmmm let's see ...who else?! But the only person whom I know that neglects his siblings when all they want is to spend a day with their big brother". He wasn't wrong when he spoke about his sister's day out, but something he didn't know because he never stayed long enough at home to find out was that his family needed him as well. Yuzu of the two was the most sensitive, and yet Ichigo's behavior was completely the opposite. Karin seemed to have learned to accept his absence more and more so, it was sad in Rukia's opinion. The only other person in their lives to be as much as a role model figure like their dad was Ichigo, how he could go about his day and not care was beyong Rukia's comprehension. It reminded her of her relationship with Byakuya, and although it wasn't the most lovable and nurturing union those emotions still lingered there. "They were planning to go to the science museum today, they wanted to invite you... I don't know Ichigo, what on Earth's name has been going through that thick headed mind of yours. You finally have time to enjoy your time on Earth and here you are sulking, by yourself, away from your family and mind you not letting anyone know where you would be".
In a sick and twisted world Rukia would probably really hate his guts for being the kind of guy he was, but oddly she was just annoyed at how idly he put things off, sure in battle he was all heart and spirit but otherwise he was just lik a sack of potatoes rotting on the side of a farm. On a side note, putting her angst aside and turning her head to the side as she saw him turn as well she continued, "And by the way, for someone who seems to have nothing to do, and with nothing on their mind you sure put off your guard. Or are you starting to rust up... ". A smirk appeared on her face as she finished her comment, nothing felt better in her mind than to make Ichigo squirm, knowing exactly what buttons to push.

At her earlier comments, Ichigo waved Rukia off, "Get off my back, I spend plenty of time with 'em..." at that thought, Ichigo realized how little time he actually did spend with his family lately, but hid the thought instead of blurting it out. He didn't want Rukia to think she was right, she'd gloat about it forever.
Instead, he decided to argue for the point of arguing, "Speaking of which, what would happen if I was out and hollows started popping up? and where are you? Aren't you Dad's 'newest daughter' now? Why aren't you spending time with them? Yeah they're not your family too, but it's about close enough." He said with an arrogant grin, as if he'd found some huge hole in Rukia's arguement. "And I'm not getting rusty dammit!" He said, a little red with anger at the shorter girl he had to hold back, " I was thinking. Aizen's up to something, there aren't as many hollows out lately. They've got to be gathering for something..." he thought back on his past few battles, at the thought of all those that were now popping up with spiritual powers and another fact he felt he should point out. "... and lately, when there've actually been hollow attacks, they've come in groups. always three or more." he stated.
With another sigh, he sulked a bit more, shoulders heavy. it felt as if the world was weighing down on them. Maybe it truly was. Yeah, he should be enjoying the peace, but in his opinion, he didn't have the luxury of time to do that. What if something big went down and innocent people were hurt while he was off oohing and aahing at the science museum? He wouldn't be able to forgive himself. As usual, he kept these thoughts in his head, and simply was wearing a scowl on the outside, a mask to his true self covering anything and everything he was thinking from everyone else.

She buzzed him off not believing a word about how much time he did spend with his family, she knew he would never admit it, it was a waste to keep rubbing it to his face. But the fact the he turned the subject around to het just ignited her short tempered fuse once again. Why she tolerated half the crap Ichigo ever said to her still bewildered her, she didn't need to take any of it, she was fine without it, but part of her couldn't deny that she did like spending the time with Ichigo even if it meant arguing for a good hour before changing the subject."Don't even think you got this one you bonehead... the second they decided to invite me I'd leave my gigai with them. It will protect them until I get there. Say's more than what you've come up with". Keeping her cool, she decided to sit down on the bench Ichigo was sitting in, crossing her arms and giving the stiffening 'I can handle this better than you can' expression.
Then Ichigo got serious, her expression changed, listening to him over Aizen's potential work up also made her tense up. "Their meant to get information...She didn't know if it was best for her to speak so affirmingly when she really only heard all of this through other's in the Seireitei. Her brother wouldn't have involved her in such details because it was none of her concern and even her own Captain, Ukitake, remained silent as though he didn't want to worry her either. She was honestly getting tired of the baby gimmick, she was a Shinigami for the same reasons they all were and yet she still had to hide behind closed doors because no one could ever tell her the simple truth. So for her simple temperament she continued, she'd have to verify a few questions over the Hougyoku with Urahara-san but that would be for another day. "Aizen's working the Hougyoku much quicker than anticipated according to the Research Bureau, these hollows are meant to gather information, knowing fairly well that they will end up dead before they can ever return to Hueco Mundo. Why he's collecting it isn't clear yet but overheard nii-sama talk about the King's key. I'm sure Urahara-san must know more about this. " She definitely spilled a lot beans with that one, she knew Ichigo had to find out sooner or later, perhaps it wasn't the best of times, but hell he brought it up anyhow. She looked at him sulk again, she wanted to pat the guy on the shoulders and let him know that he wasn't the only one dealing with this ordeal but far be it for her to show him she cared, they shared plenty of experiences in the past where her lack of emotional attachment meant much more.

Scouts...? That seemed likely, and made sense to Ichigo now. Why hadn't he thought of that before? His thoughts on the matter allowed himself to humph in real life before crossing his arms, then mildly agreeing. "Yeah, that sounds reasonable..." After listening to his 'room mate' talk for another minute, he sat up straight and raised a confused eyebrow at her. "King's wha-?" He had never heard of such a thing before, or who this 'king' might be. Probably something to do with soul society, but didn't the gotei thirteen run that place? He'd never heard of or seen a 'king' while he was there...
With a yawn, he stretched back, awaiting an answer and trying to not sound and look as dumb as he felt like he was, and looked away into the distance, over some trees into the sky to avoid eye contact.

She wasn't pleased as usual to hear him talk so casual about things when it seemed he wasn't in the loop like everyone else in soul society. "Seriously Ichigo, how can you say you worry about what Aizen is up to when you don't even try figuring stuff out" facepalming as he looked away from her. She sighed and got up walking a few feet with her back against him, "I don't have a lot of information on the matter as well so I'm heading to Urahara's shop to talk to him... if you're really worried you can come with me" she finished not really putting much more patience to his oblivious manner. She knew he meant well, but she was just plain getting fustrated over the matter.
She waited for a few seconds hoping he would put aside his dignity and just back in the loop of things. In that time Rukia rustled through her memories trying to recollect as much of what the captains were saying before she came to the real world. The captain of the 12th squad by far knew the most but it was hard to overhear that captain when he was always keeping tabs on others. Urahara was sure to know, he was the creator of the Hougyoku, he had to have had some idea.

Post by Tokei Tatsujin on May 16, 2010 0:15:00 GMT -5
It was a relaxing morning, and Tokei’s parents had made him take a day off. He had been working with the spirits at his home, helping them move on. It’d been two days since he discovered his spiritual ability. It’d been quite hectic at his home, a Soul Reaper took up residence at his home, under orders to protect him, from Captain Raeko, and his own invitation to stay. It was a simple thank you, she had helped save his life. But that was done, he’d worry ‘bout Hotaru later.
He decided to chill in the park, there wasn’t anything to do, so he’d relax and watch nature. Maybe even try to conjure his staff again. He heard some people talkin, as he was walking towards the middle of the park. They were familiar voices too, sounded like Ichigo and the other female Soul Reaper.
“H-hey! Kurosaki!! I gotta talk to you and your friend.” Tokei shouted, as he hurried to join the two of them.

One step after another, Hotaru walked silently through Karakura town’s park. There wasn’t much to look around, or at least something that called her attention, for her it was just like another park anywhere. There was only one reason why Hotaru was passing by this place. That reason was mortal, usually wore a pair of huge glasses and had an unbeatable record for breaking watches. Hotaru had been given the task to keep him safe, and through it seemed to be overprotective she had to follow him everywhere.
Maybe it wasn’t comfortable for him and her, and also it wasn’t as she really had to do so; but she was proud of complete all her orders successfully and she wasn’t going to let this one be the exception. So, at least to make it the less annoying possible, she kept some meters behind him, pretending to not be in there; obviously it was harder that it sound.
She suddenly felt Tokei´s pace to get faster. She looked up and found he was heading to greet those shinigamis she had met before, they seemed to be talking about something important. Rukia Kuchiki and…err…what was his name again?? For some reason she couldn’t memorize his name, all she remembered was that it sounded like a fruit. Anyways, she decided to still keep her distance and don´t interrupt them; so she leaned on a tree nearby, relaxing for a while down the cool shadow of the tree.

Noticing as Tokei came running over, Ichigo lifted his head up and offered a mild half-wave. "Hey Tokei, what's up?" He had seemed completely confused at Rukia's answer to his 'question' but had completely hid it as Tokei turned, his usual scowl engraved on his face.
He had met up with his friend during a hollow attack when Rukia had returned, and had learned that the other teenager had powers, similar to his friends Chad and Orihime. The time-bending youth, himself, Rukia, and another female shinigami named Hotaru had gotten into a slight mess with quite possibly the most horrendous hollow whose spiritual pressure Ichigo had ever felt, and Ichigo had had to leave before he was able to explain the situation. Perhaps he'd be able to do so now. And was that another spiritual pressure he felt nearby...?

Rukia was close to leaving when she heard nothing coming out of the orange haired individual when she suddenly heard a familiar voice in the distance. As she turned putting aside her slight fustration with Ichigo she looked at him and recognized it was Tokei, he might not have remembered her and it was understandable.
"umm... hello. What did you need to talk to us about?" she muttered a reply. She was always kind to those around her except for one, Ichigo, no one could figure out why but it was just one of those mysteries of life that just needed to be taken of on another occasion. She awaited his response but in the meantime she felt the sudden pressure of another individual in the vicinity, whomever it was, she wasn't too good in hiding her spiritual pressure. It was leaking like a rutty pipe after years of use, she looked carefully about the park, but it was a tree that caught her eye, leaves swaying ever so gently. Yet she waited, she wasn't going to bring about something that might have been a trap in the first place.

“You were one of the Shinigami from the Alley!” Tokei exclaimed, not shouting, but surpised. “Ichigo, I found out I have powers! It happened a few days ago, during the night. I met back up with Hotaru, and a Captain Ichinose.” He raised his hand, showing his watch. “I can stop time for a little bit.”
Tokei grinned, happy with his discovery. Who wouldn’t be happy if they knew they were able to do something no one else had ever been able to do before? Then he felt it, the spiritual energy of Hotaru, obviously following the orders she had been given by that Captain. “speaking of Hotaru, she just got here.” He muttered, under his breath.
“I was hoping you could help me learn a bit more, how to work with my power, and the basics. I really don’t want to keep putting people in danger." He said, as his watch had it's purple hand flicker. "And I wanted to get to hang with you."

Hotaru chuckled softly as she heard Tokei speaking about his powers. Lately that was the only thing that came out of his mouth. She couldn’t remember how many times she had heard the words “powers” and “time” in the past two days since he met him. He was like a child in Christmas, yet she couldn’t blame him; anyone would have reacted the same way; or at least almost everyone. It had been and extremely different situation when she discovered she had some spiritual energy; for some reason, in that very moment, she wasn’t that interested in that matter. When she was younger it didn’t make much of a difference for her; to have or not have spiritual powers.
She took a deep breath and exhaled. It was amazing how thing changed through the years. Who would have thought that she would end up being a shinigami??… destiny was indeed mysterious.
A sudden mention of her name got her out of her thoughts, just to realize that her spiritual pressure was too noticeable, she couldn’t believe she had been so neglected. Immediately she reduced it to the minimum she could, it was almost like if someone had turned off her spiritual pressure. She had to be more careful about things like that. To be honest she had not even tried to hide her spiritual pressure in the beginning; she was used to do so due to the fact that she usually stayed at soul society, and there she didn’t have the need to hide it.
Done with that matter she listened curiously the conversation that was going on some meters away. So…Tokei was asking for some training?? That was a really interesting topic…she couldn’t wait to hear the answer for that request.

Ichigo's look slightly relaxed as he considered the words of the other boy as he spoke of his powers. Then grinned as he noticed the pressure from the tree towards the back diminished. Perhaps he'd play that shinigami's game and go with it. Refocusing on Tokei, he frowned slightly. "Well.... I haven't ever actually 'trained' anyone before....." He moved a hand to his chin and drew the other to his elbow while thinking, then snapped his fingers when his inner light bulb flickered on. "I've got it. I bet Urahara could help you out.", He said with a mild smile at Rukia, as if asking her if she agreed with his decision. If all worked out well, maybe he could take Tolei to Urahara's shop and they could do some sparring in his underground training center.
At the names mentioned he raised an eyebrow, however. "Captain who...?" He thought he'd met all the captains in soul society a few weeks prior to today, and he certainly didn't recognize a 'Raeko'. Had they already begun replacing the captain positions of the three squads left leaderless due to the rebellion and desertion of Aizen, Gin, and Tousen? That was quick...
